Bridge Of Sighs

Once crossed by offenders on their way to be interrogated, the Bridge of Sighs now sees only tourists to Venice, Italy.

Connected to Doge's Palace or Palazzo Ducale, the Bridge of Sighs was how prisoners crossed Rio del Palazzo on their way to the prosecuters and the old prisons.

The Bridge of Sighs was constructed in 1600 and takes it name from the lamentations coming from the prisoners as they made their way to the inquistors and to have judgement passed.

The Bridge of Sighs seen from the Ponte della Paglia on Riva degli Schiavoni in Venice, Veneto, Italy, Europe.
