The schooner was restored and repaired during the 1994-5 winter season. During the summer months the Bluenose II can accommodate 75 people each trip, for two-hour tours of the harbour, obviously a very popular tourist attraction. The life preservers bearing the famous name are also known as lifebuoys, liferings or 'kisby' rings, probably named for a British naval office - Thomas Kisbee (1792-1877).
