Ursus americanus

A native species to North America is the Black Bear or Ursus americanus, which occurs throughout the whole of Canada and 39 states in the US. Black Bears excel at climbing and a cub learns early how to climb a tree. The black bear sow will grunt to her cub when there is sign of danger and the cub will immediately look for a safe hiding place which is most often the trees.
