The beautiful Lac de Ste Croix in the Parc Naturel Regional du Verdon, Provence, France is a man-made lake which captures the flowing waters of the Verdon river. As with so many reservoirs, when Lac de Ste Croix was developed a little village was drowned, but when the water is low the top of the village bell tower can be seen. A village was rebuilt higher up on a hill, but one wonders what the original little houses and streets looked like.
