Baby Seal

A baby harp seal is born without any teeth which later develop once the pup has moulted and begins to eat solid food such small crustations.

Phoca groenlandica

A baby harp seal is born toothless and nurses for around two weeks on its mothers rich milk during which time it will more than triple its size. After that time the baby seal is weaned and begins to moult its white coat, while also fasting. A baby seal pup develops teeth once it begins to eat again.
