The Auckland Zoo first opened its gates in 1922 and is home to over 1000 animals and 178 species. Be prepared to spend the entire day at the zoo as there is so much to see and do at various times throughout the day. Pack a lunch and rest at our picnic area amid these incredible animals or enjoy a meal at the concession.
The Auckland Zoo features special events where you can meet some of the animals up close. Since the 1990's, the habitats have being redeveloped to create an environment as close to the animals natural existence as possible and the zoo is extremely focused on breeding and conservation. The Auckland Zoo is open daily and it is an exciting and knowledgeable adventure for the whole family. Do not leave Auckland without checking out the Zoo.
