Arctic Ocean Native Polar Bear Animal: Scientific Name:
Ursus maritimus
A high concentration of Polar Bears can be found along the rugged shores of Hudson Bay near Churchill Manitoba. The polar bears gather there over the summer months awaiting the build up of pack ice in Hudson Bay - since it's one of the first places where ice builds up. The polar bear is a native animal to many arctic regions such as Hudson Bay, and is physically adapted to the cold temperatures of the far north.
The polar bear is also an animal regarded as a native to the Arctic Ocean and it's seas (including Hudson Bay) and is rarely found south of James Bay in Canada. Classified as a marine mammal, the polar bear spends much of its time during the winter out at sea hunting it's preferred prey of ringed seals from a platform of sea ice.
