A Polar Bear spotted near Camp Nanuq along the Hudson Bay in Churchill, Manitoba, sits peacefully on the tundra with eyes that appear very sleepy. It almost seems that this Polar Bear is trained as he sits in the perfect position ready and willing to be photographed. Cute wildlife poses can be tricky to capture, but this Polar Bear makes life as a photographer easy.
As the sun shines across the Churchill landscape, one is not sure that this Polar Bear is actually sleepy, trying to wake up or just blocking out the sun. Realistically, a Polar Bear has been conserving energy for months awaiting the Hudson Bay freeze and they will drop off to sleep at any given time during the day.
Summer and fall between the end of June and the middle of November, a Polar Bear is often seen resting or sleeping but they do not officially hibernate. Most of the time a Polar Bear fasts but on occasion they will come across a special treat that has been left ashore.
Even though this Polar Bear looks sleepy, never underestimate them, as they can turn at any given moment if the mood strikes them. A common sight while on the Polar Bear watching tours that leave from Churchill, Manitoba is a sleepy Polar Bear, but that soon changes as the weather around the Hudson Bay becomes colder.
A pose of a Polar Bear as cute as this is priceless and people are ecstatic when seeing such innocence in a large mammal.
