A baby harp seal lies on the pack ice in the Gulf of St Lawrence in Canada. In a few weeks these animals will be hunted by sealers with hakapiks for their skins. Heather and Paul McCartney were on the ice with journalists from around the world to promote the protection of the Harp Seals in conjunction with the Humane Society of the United States before the hunt begins.
The Humane Society organised a visit by Heather and Paul McCartney to the ice floes of Canada to protect these animals from the annual seal hunt.
