The ancient Monasterio de San Juan de la Pena, or the Monastery of 'Saint John of the Rock' in Huesca, region of Aragon in Spain was first built around 920. Surrounded by massive rock cliffs, the monastery was built to fit nicley in and around the rocks. A fire in the 17th century made it necessary for a new monastery to be added nearby.
