... ferrocement. This is a mixture of cement, sand, water and wire so that it can be molded in to shapes and then will have the ability to stay in that shape. Originally this fountain was supposed to be installed in Auckland, and was commissioned to be built there, but the Wellington Sculpture Trust Project raised money for it to be built in their city, and it became the first sculpture in a series to be built for here.

The sculpture was originally going to be three abstract and somewhat unrelated shapes, built to interact with each other but also with the space around them, and still be their own separate structures. The use of water altogether connects the three pieces however, and allows the sculpture to be part of the landscape and able to stand on its own.
