Alaska Highway Yukon

Winter travel on the Alaska Canada Highway can be an adventure.

The Alaska Highway stretches from Dawson Creek in British Columbia to the Delta Junction in Alaska. The Highway is approximately 1523 miles (2451 kms) in length and was completed in 1942 and opened for public use in 1943.

During the winter months the surface of the Alaska Canada Highway can be treacherous like a sheet of ice, and care should be taken when considering driving the road during the winter.
