This aerial photograph is taken from the famous bell tower of La Giralda, part of the Seville Cathedral. It is still one of the largest churches in the world and it towers high above the city of Sevilla.
The part of the city seen here is called the Santa Cruz District - an old neighbourhood that is part of the ancient Jewish quarter. This district started in the Middle Ages, and evidence of that can still be seen today. Visitors to the area describe it as picturesque and an insight into what Sevilla used to look like. It contains many narrow streets and winding turns, leading into beautiful squares.
As this area contains such history, dating all the way back to the Middle Ages, and provides such a glimpse into what...
... life was like for the Jewish population of Spain, it is important to preserve this for years to come.
