Heather and Paul McCartney got an aerial view of the seals as they flew over the ice floes in the Gulf of St Lawrence before venturing onto the ice itself. Their visit was to highlight the senselessness of the annual seal hunt and the brutality of the methods used. The trip was organized by the Humane Society of the United States weeks before the killings began.
