Built in 1932 in Venice, Italy, this wooden bridge known as the Accademia bridge was only meant to be left in place on a short term basis. The bridge crosses over the Grand Canal and has remained standing due to the fact that it became so popular. It was reconstructed in 1986 to the exact replica of the original bridge.
The Accademia Bridge is a well known foot bridge that lets you cross from one side of the Grand Canal to the other and gives you an excellent view of the boats cruising down the canal. There are three bridges along the Grand Canal and the Accademia Bridge is one of the more recent ones with its high arched wooden structure that has withheld many foot passengers over the years.
